What's in a target?

Each target in the Oxfordshire Delivery Plan (including the local area agreement targets) must be:

Stretching Unambiguous baseline performance information is available and the intended outcome will deliver improvements above this baseline. Example: Increase the number of tonnes of waste recycled per annum from a baseline of 4500 to a total of 6000 per annum within 3 years.
Measurable

A proven method for recording the relevant activity is in place.

Example: A system exists to accurately record and collate numbers of people attending smoking cessation classes and to follow-up and record the numbers not smoking at a specified interval after the classes.

Achievable

Action plans are in place to deliver the desired outcomes.

Resources requirements are met.

Risks to success are clearly identified.

Relevant

The desired outcomes reflect the priorities identified through the Sustainable Community Strategy or mandatory measures from central government.

Plans require real partnership working i.e. activity to achieve target involves more than one organisation.

Each target can be linked to one of the 200 national indicator set.

Timely Outcomes and/or activity can be measured at appropriate intervals throughout the period of LAA2.
