Citizens Advice Oxfordshire
A new consortium established by the eight separate Citizens Advice Bureau services that provide free, independent and impartial advice to all the people of Oxfordshire.
It is a registered charity, and a company limited by guarantee.
Each CAB is an important resource for the community, and we are there for everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation or circumstances. There is an ever-increasing need for our advice; issues such as benefits, debt, housing and employment are significant problems for many of those living in Oxfordshire. Our advisers - most of whom are volunteers - are highly trained generalists, able to deal with all problems and look beyond presenting issues, in order to provide a holistic service.
Although each bureau is a separate entity, bureaux have worked collaboratively for several years in order to provide a better service. Our aim is that Citizens Advice Oxfordshire will:
- Provide a single legal entity with which funding agencies can engage
- Achieve a more effective, efficient delivery of advice services
- Be able to form more effective partnerships with other organisations
- Be able to exercise greater influence on local and national policies and services, for the benefit of the community
Since the beginning of the current financial crisis CABx have coped with an increase in clients, often with complex problems requiring extensive help. CABx in Oxfordshire are currently waiting to hear if they have been successful in bidding for funds which would enable them to provide extra sessions and/or longer opening hours.
