Developing Oxfordshire 2030
In 2007 we started work on the new Sustainable Community Strategy for Oxfordshire. The strategy outlines the long-term vision for Oxfordshire and will identify common priorities that partner organisations work together to achieve in the short to medium term.
A multi-agency project group oversaw development of the Sustainable Community Strategy.
Twelve thematic briefing papers informed the development of the strategy. The briefing papers were designed for any individual or organisation interested in finding more about Oxfordshire and can be downloaded from the Sustainable Community Strategy briefing papers page.
Evidence gathering
Workshops were held in July 2007 to consider the priority issues for Oxfordshire. The paper Oxfordshire Futures (.pdf format, 1.3 Mb) presented a briefing for attendees on the key trends and data. A report on the issues raised in the July workshops was produced and can be read on the workshops page.
Twelve briefing papers on a range of themes were produced to provide an overview of the key issues and options by theme for members of the partnership and partner organisations. Each paper was developed by experts in consultation with their relevant partnership group(s) - a wide ranging collaborative process. Read the papers on the briefing papers page.

The draft priorities for the strategy using all the evidence gathered was then agreed by the Partnership in December 2007. Read the summary of key issues for the strategy (.pdf format, 173 Kb).
Drafting the strategy
Between December and May 2008 detailed drafting of the strategy has been taking place alongside development of the new Local Area Agreement. Partners will be able to comment on the draft in May before the board agreed the draft for public consultation at its meeting on 23 June 2008.
A twelve week period of public consultation will take place from 7 July to 27 September 2008. The public and all partners will be encouraged to give the Partnership their views on the draft strategy and asked if it reflects their priorities for the county. The involvement plan for this period will be available here.
Consulting on the strategy
Public consultation on the draft strategy took place during the summer 2008. Reaction to the consultation was extremely positive and we received a large number of detailed responses to our proposals from individuals and organisations across the county.
