Environment Partnership - structure, purpose and work programme.

Context
The Environment Partnership has been formed as one of a range of thematic partnerships which contribute to the priorities of the Oxfordshire Partnership and to the Local Area Agreement through specific outcomes and targets.
Purpose
The purpose of the Environment Partnership is to:
- champion a better environment for Oxfordshire
- build links between local environmental organisations and the Oxfordshire Partnership
- provide strategic support and a governance framework which ensures delivery of Sustainable Community Strategy and LAA2 environmental and climate change targets
- support development of a programme of work to deliver Sustainable Community strategy pledges
- assist in building a promoting wider community engagement to support these activities.
Key work areas and priorities for 2010-11
The key focus of the Environment Partnership is:
1) to deliver the strategic priorities for climate change and the environment defined in the Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement agreed by he Public Service Board have agreed two climate change targets from the national indicator set in their Local Area Agreement (LAA2):
- NI 185: CO2 reduction from local authority operations
NI 188: Adapting to climate change
2) to deliver the Low Carbon Communities Programme, funded by Local Area Agreement reward grant.
